1. £30 million capital for mental health services
(Gateway reference 4368)
On 19 December, Rosie Winterton announced that new capital monies are
available for mental health services. The process for allocation of this
money is detailed in a letter to SHA Chief Executives. Key components
of the allocation process are: money to be channelled through and allocated
equitably to all SHAs; money will be allocated for spend in 2005/6; low
secure accommodation, particularly local general PICUs to be targeted.

2. National Cancer Waits Project established (Gateway
reference 4413)
This project will support the NHS in delivering the two waiting time targets
for December 2005: 31 days from decision to treat until first treatment
and 62 days from urgent GP referral to first treatment. A national briefing
event for chief executives will be held in London on 7 February. More

3. PCT indicative dental budgets - 2004/5 and 2005/6
(Gateway reference 4331)
The Department of Health will conduct a further review of indicative allocations
taking into account access, new Personal Dental Services (PDS) conversions
and activity for 2004-5, and will ensure that every PCT is adequately
funded to meet their confirmed service commitments.

4. Implementation of Agenda for Change (Gateway

The Department of Health has written to strategic health authority chief
executives to set out milestones, up to September 2005, for the assimilation
of staff to Agenda for Change terms and conditions. Read

5. Clinical Excellence Awards, Para 5.1 guidance -
enquiries (Gateway reference 4411)
Employers should submit a ranked list of their national nominations at
levels 9-11 to ACCEA (closing date 23 January). If there is doubt as to
the number of these nominations, this should be clarified with the appropriate
