1. Patient safety - connecting to the National Reporting
and Learning System (Gateway reference 3265)
Last month the National Patient Safety Agency (NPSA) launched the National
Reporting and Learning System. It will collect data on patient safety
incidents to identify risks and prevent recurrence. The NPSA's network
of patient safety managers will contact your risk manager or clinical
governance lead to set a date for your organisation to connect. It is
crucial that this momentum is harnessed and that this work is taken in
hand and a date agreed. The NPSA will offer free incident investigation
training. It is also examining ways to feed back data to help with handling
local issues.
