Social Care interest NHS interest 1. Action: nomination of a member of staff from every Trust and Health Authority to co-ordinate information published on a new NHS web site. Chief Executives of Health Authorities and Trusts are asked to nominate
an individual to play a key role in developing local information to be
published on nhs.uk, the new national web site for the NHS. This key role is primarily a communications one that will be supported,
locally and nationally, by technical staff. Published material should
be written and structured for the needs of users, including NHS staff
and the public. It will be important to make only one nomination from
each organisation. Please advise your nominee to register at http://nww.webeditor.nhs.uk/

(2000)3 Review of the Evidence on Risk of HIV Transmission associated
with Oral Sex The review was completed by the UK Chief Medical Officers' Expert Advisory
Group on AIDS in response to accumulating epidemiological evidence about
the risk of HIV transmission associated with oral sex. In 1998, new research concluded that the risk of HIV transmission associated
with oral sex might be greater than was previously supposed. Evidence
from clinical case reports and epidemiological studies has confirmed that
HIV can be transmitted through oral sex. An important conclusion of the
review is that although the risk per episode of exposure may be low, the
frequency of its occurrence may serve to increase its relative contribution
to overall HIV transmission. An electronic version is available Click
