1. Home Office data on failed asylum seekers (Gateway

The Audit Commission, examining Home Office data, found a number of matches
between failed asylum seekers and NHS employees, contrary to the provisions
of section 8 of the Asylum & Immigration Act 1996. The employers in
question have already been contacted directly, however, all employers

2. Advance Letter DOS 3/2003 - Changes to Pay and
Allowances for Dental Public Health Staff (Gateway reference 2360)
This advance letter details increased pay and allowances for dental public
health staff, including those appointed to director of public Health posts
in PCTs, effective from 1st April 2003. Employing authorities should give

3. New Directions for contracts with independent providers
of NHS care (Gateway number 2362)
From the 1st December 2003, PCTs are required to incorporate new Directions
into the contracts they place with independent providers of NHS care.
These include arrangements for allowing Patients' Forums to enter and
inspect premises where they are providing those services, and arrangements
for providing information to Patients' Forums in relation to those services.

4. Personal Social Services Funding For Adults 2004-05

This local authority social services letter sets out the main aspects
of the local government finance settlement. The figures for Personal Social
Services Formula Spending Share, grant allocations for adults where available

8. Department of Health Commercial Advisory Board
A new board has been established of senior figures from the private sector
and representing a number of key areas including accounting, legal, construction,
outsourcing, investment banking and private health care. Its functions
are to act as a sounding board and market reality check for the Commercial
Director and his team and to provide advice and information for the Chief
Executive as required. It will also provide an important high-level interface
with the private sector and facilitate discussions on a non-contractual
specific basis.
