2. Consultation on enhancing public protection - proposals for the regulation of health care staff in England and Wales (Gateway reference 2121)
The England and Wales Health Departments propose to extend the current system of regulation to a wider range of health care support staff. Public consultation will take place between 2nd March 2004 and 2nd July 2004. Chief executives are asked to circulate the consultation widely within their organisation. 3. Review of Children's Cases - LAC(2004)5 (Gateway reference 2875)
This guidance is issued to councils with social services responsibilities under section 7 of the Local Authority Social Services Act 1970, which requires councils to act under the guidance of the Secretary of State. It contains guidance to councils about the actions needed in the light of the judgement of the Court of Appeal in the criminal case of R v Angela Cannings (the judgement).

5. Review of alert letter system (Gateway reference 2865)
A short listening exercise on how Health Circular 2002/011 (Alert Letters for Health Professionals in England) has been working is underway and suggestions on how it may be improved are requested. Comments should be sent to hrdlistening@doh.gsi.gov.uk by Friday 16 April. Read more.

7. Young people's substance misuse services grant and PCT drug prevention funding (Gateway reference 2892)
From 1 April 2004 the above funding streams together with other Department of Health and government departments' funding for young people's substance misuse services, will be included in a single Drugs Strategy - Young People Partnership Grant. Read more.

10. Improving chronic disease management (Gateway reference 2843)

18. A number of hip patients to be reviewed (Gateway reference 2874)
